Blue Whale

  1. Blue Whale

This marine mammal  can measure up to 30 meters in length and weigh no less than 150 tons. One of the curiosities about it is that it feeds on one of the smallest organisms:  krill. Although it is known as the Blue Whale, it can be of other colors, such as grey. It has the ability to vocalize underwater, swims long distances throughout the year, and gives birth to a single offspring per gestation.

  1. common whale

Its scientific name is  Balaenoptera Physalus . It is a little smaller than the Blue Whale, but it measures no less than 27 meters and weighs up to 70 tons. It is dark gray at the top and white at the bottom.  It feeds not only on krill, but also on small crustaceans, squid and fish. It is an endangered species due to indiscriminate hunting.

  1. giant squid

Although scientists are not in agreement whether  in the animal world there is one or more species of squid  (some scholars claim there are 8 different ones). The truth is that this being, which lives in the depths of the ocean, can reach up to 18 meters in length and weigh 275 kg, although, on average, they measure 14 meters, but even so they remain one of the 10 largest animals in the world.

  1. Whale shark

The size of sharks is truly amazing, no matter what the species. Of all of them, the biggest is the “whale shark” or  Rhincodon Typus , which inhabits tropical areas (warm seas). Like the cetacean from which it derives its name,  this huge fish feeds on krill, as well as algae, phytoplankton and crustaceans.  Can locate food through olfactory signals.

  1. White shark

The scientific name is  Carcharodon Carcharis  and, like its relative, it inhabits warm waters, although it can also be found in temperate seas. It causes panic on the beaches and is the biggest predator there is. It can measure up to 6 meters and weigh 2 tons. What sets it apart from most other species in the animal kingdom is that females are larger in size than males.

  1. Elephant

Sea animals aside, the elephant is the largest of the land. It measures 7 meters in length and is 3.5 in height, weighing approximately 6 tons.  Eat about 200 kg of food a day (mostly leaves).  Its long trunk allows it to reach the highest of the trees. The brain of this mammal weighs 5 kg and it is said that because of this they have a lot of memory. They live in groups.

  1. Giraffe

Another of the largest animals on Earth, clearly due to its height: 6 meters (most of its body is formed by its large neck). It can weigh between 750 kg and 1.5 tons. The brown spots, typical of its coat, allow the giraffe to camouflage itself with the ecosystem. The giraffe’s tongue is dark in color and can measure almost 1 meter in length: they use it to pluck leaves from the top of trees.

  1. Anaconda

With a weight of 200 kg and a length of almost 8 meters, the anaconda occupies the position of number 8 in the ranking of the biggest animals in the world. This giant snake inhabits the rivers of Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Brazil, more precisely the Amazon River region.  It feeds on birds, tapirs, alligators and even deer.

  1. Crocodile

This large reptile that inhabits marshy areas  can measure about 8 meters and weigh 1.5 tons. On land, they are not very agile, but they reach great speeds in water. In addition, they can spend hours completely submerged and leave out only their eyes ,  to observe and remain close to their prey. They can eat from small animals to deer or horses.

  1. Polar Bear

Polar Bear

It weighs about half a ton and measures 3 meters. Carnivorous food, its diet is based on fish, seals, arctic foxes and walruses. It hibernates during the winter and is a perfect swimmer.  Due to climate change and rising temperatures at the poles, it is in a vulnerable situation.
