Absurd Myths About Cats

Absurd myths about cats

A lot of people say they’re evil, that they don’t like people, that they’re extraterrestrials. From everything you hear about cats, today we’ll tell you some of the most absurd myths about cats.

People like to joke that cats are mean, however there are many who believe so. What’s more, during the Middle Ages women who had black cats were persecuted, because the culture of the time associated them with demonic creatures, but nothing further from reality.

While it can be fun to play with the stereotype that cats are aloof, aloof and a little mean, the way culture sometimes portrays cats has negative real life consequences for our feline friends.

Other myths, such as the idea that cats can be left home alone for days, can lead well-meaning owners to give their pets bad care and bad times.

Let’s eliminate some myths for the sake of our felines, keep reading!

cats don’t like people

The claim that cats have no affection for their owners is more supported by stereotypes and lithographic evidence from sensationalist media than in reality.

However, what most articles do not take into account is that many of the studies that are done on cats have absolutely nothing to do with affection.

cat lover

This myth can be dispelled by asking anyone who has a cat.  They will swear that their cat seems to love them, while other members of the same household will say that the same cat is distant.

It could be that both are right. The new findings demonstrate that cats simply do not see their human companions as similar single-parent figures. This is simply because feline-human love has its roots in something other than addiction, something that happens to dogs.

However, what all the studies seem to agree on is that cats are more likely to express affection when they are on what they perceive as safe ground. Samples of affection include raising the tail and holding it up when they see us, rubbing the head or flanks on our legs, licking us when they’re sitting next to us, and purring when we caress them.

cats are not sociable

Since cats are not socially expressive animals in the same way as dogs, people often have the misconception that they are total loners. But this really varies by cat.

Each cat is an individual, with its own history and personality, cats can form strong bonds with others and, if they form a strong bond with another cat, they should never be separated.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that cats can also form strong bonds with other species. Since they are territorial, it is crucial to introduce the animals to each other while they are young, thus avoiding conflict.

But while many cats get along well with their feline companions, some just don’t like being with other cats and prefer to be kings of their homes.

Can be left alone for days

Cats should not be left alone all day, let alone several days in a row, without anyone visiting them, interacting with them and cleaning their litter box. In other words, if you’re going out for more than 24 hours, hire a cat caretaker or at least ask an acquaintance to take care of your pussy.

While cats can be left alone at home while their owners are at work or away for relatively short periods, they do need some things done for them while people are away.

Telling signs that a cat is very lonely are lethargy or too cheesy behavior, as well as over-cleaning or starting to get into litter box problems. Although these symptoms are a sign of boredom, they can also be caused by another type of medical condition, so it would be ideal to see a veterinarian.
