It is very common to hear people say that this or that race is aggressive. This is, in addition to an injustice, a myth in general fueled by the media such as caricatures or cinema. Unfortunately, the bad reputation that some breeds gain leads to their prohibition in certain regions, to a low rate of adoption or to the sacrifice of animals belonging to the so-called “violent races”. So we wonder if there are aggressive dogs or if the owners are dangerous?

Even dogs, the breeds with the lowest territoriality index, end up developing aggressive attitudes if they are not well taught, and the worst thing is that this is a very common phenomenon. Aggression in dogs is related to two important factors:

Socialization should be done once the puppy completes its vaccination schedule (because before that it is vulnerable to bacteria or viruses that other animals may have), and this socialization should be done both inside and outside the home.

It is healthy for dogs to develop bonds with other animals, as they are animals belonging to complex and hierarchical social structures.

The physically abused dog, abandoned or isolated, will be an animal with a low level of confidence, so it will develop a nervous and suspicious personality in front of strangers.

Nervous dogs should be considered as animals at risk, because if they feel cornered, they can act aggressively as a means of defense.

Mistreatment causes profound psychological damage, which will hardly allow them to establish a trusting relationship with other animals, especially if they have been isolated or away for a long time.

Among the abused animals, those that are bred to attack others are included, as is the case of fighting dogs, which must receive therapy to be able to overcome the traumas that a life of combat left them, so that they can establish social bonds with others.

A dog that has not received affection will hardly know a different path from violence, which is why they react the way they do… Much of the problem is due to the lack or excessive discipline with the animals, as well as the lack of knowledge about the characteristics and needs of the breed .

To prevent a dog from developing antisocial traits, it must be bred to strengthen its trust in others. You will also have to feed him properly so he doesn’t feel the need to compete for food.

He must be disciplined without violence, taken for walks so that he has different types of experiences and that contact with others is allowed.
