The Peterbald cat – in Portuguese, literally, Pedro Careca – has its origins in Russia, more specifically in the mythical San Petersburgo, the second most populous city in the country.

As she was looking for faster ways, she crossed Siamese, Oriental and Don Sphynx, now known as Donskoy. Thus were born the first cats of this very particular breed, which was soon recognized by the main feline associations and gained followers around the world.

Physical Characteristics of the Peterbald Cat

This elegant domestic feline can be absolutely naked or have a very fine, inconspicuous fur, from one to five millimeters. There are also specimens with hairs that exceed five millimeters.

Sometimes, it happens that a specimen does not inherit the baldness gene and has a normal coat. About colors, they can be of all varieties and combinations.

We are talking about an ideal cat to live indoors, which adapts without problems to the presence of other animals. In addition, he is usually very patient with the children in the home.

But if the place is without human presence daily and for several hours, the ideal is that this little animal has the company of some other feline. Or at least a dog.

In addition to specific care for hairless breeds, which must always be protected from the cold and the sun, the Peterbald cat does not require constant grooming, unlike other breeds of naked felines.
